2002 EQUINE SURVEY
|
Dear Horse Owner: The significance of the equine industry in Vermont has not been measured. The last "head count" was conducted in 1990, and was considered to be an estimate of actual horse numbers. This survey will begin to establish the contribution of the equine industry to the state of Vermont. Whether you have one pleasure horse or an active equine business, your contribution is essential. Results of this survey will be available to anyone interested in Vermont's equine industry. |
Leaders, educators, and future equine business people are depending on this survey to measure the contribution of horses to the Vermont and the nation. Results will be used to determine future public policies addressing equine concerns.
Your response is entirely voluntary, however your cooperation is extremely
important. Your data represent your own and similar operations throughout the
state. The information you provide is kept STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL and
used only for compiling state and county estimates. State statutes prohibit
disclosure of individual data.

This equine survey is intended to gather preliminary data to create an equine list for a future economic impact survey. In order for a useful and statistically valid equine survey to be conducted later, it is critical to obtain as complete a list of the Vermont equine owner population as possible during this preliminary project. Please do your part to help Vermont equine owners to establish a strong voice in Vermont policy making.
NOTE REGARDING SPECIAL DRAWINGS FOR EQUINE FEED AND OTHER PRIZES: Only one contest entry per owner, family or equine business. For example: John Doe owns a horse, but boards it at Jim and Jane’s boarding operation. John is eligible for one entry, and Jim and Jane (together) are eligible for one entry provided both John Doe and Jim/Jane completely fill out and turn in their equine surveys.
